Bent Steps and THEM
Someone trails a jerky walk from one place to the next, with great confidence, without positioning itself. As if it were pacing ambition without moving forward. Therefore, the walking seems somewhat naïve, at times even foolhardy. As if it were clueless, or retrograde. Perhaps British.
Retrograde signifies a backwards motion, usually in the meaning of a regressive, negative, unwelcomed, reactionary sense, or else of a throwback to former worst conditions. In astrology, on the other hand, retrograde means a trajectory’s deviation from the norm. In geology, it stands for a metamorphosis, for a transformation induced by sinking temperature and decreased pressure. Retrograde also is the title of a James Blake track, where he uses a loop-machine to warp his song, so that he can sing a different voice. Bent Steps and THEM endures the cold and survives low blood pressure. More so, much like James Blake, it loops its steps and by that gains access to illimited difference.
