D_LAP

D_LAP* was an exchange project in 2012 – 2013 between ccap (Stockholm, Sweden) and Padepokan Lemah Putih (Solo, Indonesia)
D_LAP explored intercultural art practices through a series of critical discussions and art practice collaborations on the subject of art and/as politics. Within the project, participants exposed, perceived, recognized and jointly addressed one another’s work, working conditions, aesthetic motives, social agendas, political realities and contextual cultures. They further explored individual and common ideas, addressed cultural diversities and engaged in a critical scrutiny of the exchange itself. Hence, the project reflected upon art practice from the perspectives of topical sociopolitical realities, not least in respect to the issues of civil rights and religious heritage.
D_LAP promoted art as production of ethical encounters, and aimed to support choreography as practice of politics, whereby social ideological matters are addressed cross-culturally. The project challenged the notions of democracy and the declaration of Human Rights at large, more specifically their implementations (or lack of implementation) in respective countries.
*The acronym D_LAP stands for Dance Laboratory Art Practice
