Project Description

Petrolio22

Pier Paolo Pasolini’s unfinished novel Petrolio was published in the autumn of 1992, 17 years after his tragic death. In November 1994, Cristina Caprioli presented Petrolio – Accumulation of Matter, a choreography that, based on the Petrolio text, relied on the political power of poetry. Twenty years later, in November 2014, she produced Petrolio2, again a work that affirmed Pasolini’s confidence in language, poetry, austerity, intellectual effort, visual wallowing, power politics, violence and eroticism. Then through a reading of his last film Salò, or The 120 Days of Sodom. Petrolio2 was a poetic barricade performed in an empty pool, by a flock of creatoids and a poet engaged in a collective crawling, listening, talking, rendition of texts by Johan Jönson, Pier Paolo Pasolini and the Marquis de Sade. As part of the ccap retrospective 2022, Petrolio2 was resumed with the new title Petrolio22.
